The Modernist Studies Association is committed to supporting our professional community even when there are obstacles to our coming together in person, and so we present Between the Acts. This digital conference offers seminars, roundtables, panels, and an urgently needed featured workshop on labor solidarity, at a moment between when we might expect and hope to gather, and when what is to come for our many communities is still uncertain.

Despite the uncertainty, we seek to keep our scholarly conversations going, and our call to gather in the first two weeks of April—April 1 to April 14, 2022—has been met with enthusiasm. Those whose work was accepted for presentation in Chicago for the 2021 conference were invited to participate online. Between the Acts would not be possible without the efforts of all of those who worked on the 2021 conference, and our sponsors and partners; they are owed a great debt of gratitude.

Please peruse the program of events, read through the seminar descriptions, and find some time to attend the over 30 sessions being offered by colleagues around the world. And if you’re on Twitter, please use the hashtag #BetweenTheActs as you share the latest in modernist studies this April. Let’s keep the conversation going “between the acts.”

The program will be updated with links to access the online sessions for registered attendees.
