Conference Overview
Founded in 1999, the Modernist Studies Association is devoted to
the study of the arts in their social, political, cultural, and
intellectual contexts from the late nineteenth through the mid-twentieth
century. Through its annual conferences and journal, Modernism/Modernity,
the organization seeks to develop an international and interdisciplinary
forum for exchange among scholars in this revitalized and rapidly
expanding field.
The Modernist Studies Association will hold its first Canadian
conference
in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The conference will be held at one of Vancouver’s top conference
hotels, the Hyatt Regency, Vancouver, located in the heart of the
city.
Sponsored by the Social Sciences
and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Simon
Fraser University and the University
of British Columbia, the conference will feature plenary sessions,
panels, seminars, and poetry readings related to the study of modernism
and modernity.
