Albright Knox Art Gallery
Buffalo’s Albright-Knox Art Gallery is one of the premier museums of modern and contemporary art in North America. Founded in 1862, the collecting of contemporaneous art has always been a part of its mission. The Albright usually offers free admission on “First Fridays,” and we anticipate that this will be the case on October 6 during MSA 13. Open Tue.-Sun. 10am-5pm ($12/$8 reduced). First Fridays:10am-10pm, free admission.
Burchfield Penny Art Center
Located across the street from the Albright and housed in a brand new building (2008) on the campus of Buffalo State College, the Burchfield Penney Art Center is dedicated to distinguished artists from Buffalo, Niagara and Western New York. Open Tue., Wed., & Fri. 10am-5pm, Thurs. 10am-9pm, and Sun. 11am-5pm ($9/$6 for seniors/$5 for students with ID).
These galleries are a short cab ride from the Hyatt Regency Hotel. You can also reach them via public transportation by walking to the corner of Delaware Avenue at West Huron Street (one block from the hotel) and taking the 20A bus directly to the galleries. It will stop on Elmwood Avenue at Rockwell Road, on the Albright-Knox side of the street. Cross the street to the Burchfield-Penney Art Center. The bus returns from a stop on Rockwell Road. Travel time: 21 minutes.
