After an $18 million renovation, Hyatt Regency Vancouver reopened
in March 2002. Guests will find a West Coast look prominent throughout.
Guest rooms are now the largest in the city. The hotel is centrally
located in the heart of the downtown business and entertainment
core. The location which overlooks a mountain-rimmed harbour, is
adjacent to shopping in Royal Centre, and is two blocks from Robson
Street and Pacific Centre.
Special MSA Conference Rates
The Hyatt is offering MSA 6 delegates the best rate in town for
a luxury hotel. The conference rate is Canadian $139.00 (~US $106)
per night, single or double occupancy. A local tax of 10% is charged
on hotel accommodation plus 7% Goods and Services Tax.
Making Your Room Reservation
You are responsible for booking your accommodation at the Hyatt
Regency Vancouver by Monday, September 20, 2004. Rooms reserved
after that date (or after the block has been filled) will be booked
at the group rate on a space available basis. Rates are also valid
for 3 days pre/post conference (based on availability).

You can also make your reservation by phone but make sure you ask
for the Modernist Studies Association – 6th Annual Conference
rate.
Room Deposit/No Show Policy
To guarantee your reservation, please provide a major credit card
(Amex, VISA, MasterCard, En Route, Diners Club, Discover). You will
not be charged a cancellation charge if you cancel your reservation
twenty-four (24) hours prior to your arrival date. Late cancellations
and no shows will be charged one night’s room and tax.
Parking
Parking is available in the lot underneath the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.
The cost for hotel guests is Canadian $24.00/day. Daily Parking
is also available (CDN $3 for 1/2 hour) to a maximum of CDN $13
until 6:00 p.m. Evening rates apply.
Airport Bus Service
The Airporter bus runs from Vancouver International Airport to the
Hyatt Regency Hotel. Buses depart from the pick-up area outside
level 2 at the Vancouver International Airport every thirty (30)
minutes. Tickets can be purchased from the driver. Cost one way
into Vancouver is currently CDN $12 or CDN $18 return. Buses operate
between 8:55 am and 11:30 pm.
Buses drop/pick-up passengers on Melville Street located at hotel’s
North Entrance. Enter hotel at street level and take the escalator
to the lobby. Buses depart from the Hyatt every twenty (20) minutes
between 9:34 am and 10:24 pm. Taxi service (estimate $25-30 into
town) is also available. Travel time from the airport is 30-35 minutes.
Alternative Hotel Accommodation
A small number of rooms have been reserved at the Days Inn Vancouver
Downtown, 921 West Pender Street, Vancouver. This hotel is located
three (3) blocks north of the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. A room rate
of Canadian $72 per night (single/double occupancy) is being offered
to MSA members. Rates are subject to a hotel tax of 10% and 7% Goods
and Services Tax.
